Question on spindle replacement

Post by Admin on Wed Nov 09, 2011 10:28 am

Question on spindle replacement:

I've put my ZTR in the shop for some year end maintenance. I'm having all the safety switches replaced, the lap bar shocks and the three spindles replaced. My question is should I go with the grease-able or the sealed bearing type.
What are the pro's and con's of the sealed type? confused

The one benefit to sealed bearings it that you don't have to worry about them. A grease-able bearing is better in the fact that you can add fresh grease to them. Depending on what kind of conditions you are running in you might not want to grease the bearings. In sandy conditions if you grease the bearings, the grease will collect the dust, grit etc and the bearing will fail prematurely.
